Hello Orbiteers,
Just a quick blog (if there is such a thing) to say I’M GOING TO GENCON!!!!!! Can’t wait. The Brisbane Convention Centre filled with gaming, comics, sci fi and fantasy freaks and geeks. Sounds like fun to me. I’ve got my pocket money and my Goonies T-shirt all ready to go. For those of you in Queensland (Terry and Fiona are the only ones, I think…?) I’ll be at Gencon on Thursday if you can make it, would love to catch up. I’m hoping to run into author-in-residence-extraordinare Marianne as well and get her to sign my copy of Dark Space (anyone read it? She blends latino culture with space travel, very trippy, very engaging). I’ll let you know how it all goes.
Keep writing, writers.
Dear Loose Orbits,
Just back from a three week holiday on a paddle steamer on the Murray. Letting my last reader comment on the first manuscript and then off she goes – I plan it to be in the mail end of July. Thank for all the encouragement, there’s something special about the group, I love it. Got 20k words of the next MS typed!
Luke, have a great time at Gencon! Too late for me….
Terry
Wow Luke, hope Gencon is fab, I’m thinking of you there right now. So much would have liked to come, but I’m saving myself for the Bris Writers Festival. Still, BWF won’t have Alan Tudyk … sigh.
Yes indeed, loved Dark Space. I broke my cardinal rule on trilogies – ie don’t read any until they’re all out and I can read ‘em as a block. I read fast but memory doesn’t retain detail. Hope Gencon doesn’t keep Marianne away from the rest of the series for too long, I wanna know what happens!!
And Terry, you rock – Qld is definitely the place to be for writing, you and Fiona are doing us proud. I keep telling myself it’s not a race (yeah, SURE) but your commitment is very inspiring.
Read ‘The Word’ Luke – loved it.
Well done all on the re-writes – I’m hoping to get mine in the post today.
And Janette, I’m the same with series, i always have to re-read the last one before reading the next one. I too read fast and nearly instantly forget everything. We would make great spies.
Oh you guys are all so good!!! I have managed to carve out a chunk of time this weekend AND I know what I want to get done. Let’s see if it works!
Okay Luke, you’ve had time to recover now – we need feedback on Gencon, was it fabulous and wonderful? Potted highlights if that’s all you can manage, but some kind of report back to those of us languishing in the regions.
Plee-ee-ee-ease…. ???
